The APPSC chairman announced that major reforms would be made to the exam pattern for Group-I and Group-II examinations. He said that the Group-I prelims exam would now be one paper instead of two, and that more descriptive questions would be included in the mains exam. He explained that these changes were designed to make the exam more fair and efficient, and to better test candidates' knowledge and skills.

The chairman also said that the preliminary test would be easier than what it was in the past, as it is increasingly felt that it is only a screening test and candidates' knowledge is anyway tested elaborately at the next level, in the Mains.

He also said that the commission had constituted an internal committee to assist in the examination reforms.
